Urban Mothers’ Healthy Khichdi
Don’t be afraid of the word ‘kichari’, this recipe will blow your taste buds away!!
“A healthy and nutritious one pot meal “
Ingredients
- ¼ cup millet
- 2tbsp whole green moong dal
- ¼ cup chickpeas
- ¼ cup moth beans
- 3 cups of water
- 1tbsp of olive oil
- 1tsp ginger garlic paste
- Pinch asafoetida
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 10-15 curry leaves
- 1/2cup onion chopped
- 1cup chopped Tomatoes
- ½ cup green peas
- 1tsp coriander powder
- Green chillies chopped
- ½ tsp fennel seed powder
- Juice of ½ Lemon juice
- Chopped coriander leaves
How to prepare
- Wash and soak the millet, green moong, chickpea, moth beans for at least 8-9 hours.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and asafoetida.
- Add onion and ginger, garlic, and green chillies, and saute.
- Then add millet, moong, moth and mix well, add tomatoes and green peas and saute for few mins.
- Then add coriander powder, fennel powder,garam masala, salt, and pepper, and add 3 cups of water. Stir well
- Pressure cook for at least 3 whistles.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
