If you are fond of eating idli, then you must try this moong dal idli. This idli is as tasty as it is beneficial for health. You must have mostly eaten semolina or rice idli, but you must not heard of Moong Dal Idli!
So try this Veg Moong Dal Idli at your home today itself
Ingredients for Moong Dal Idli
- 1 cup moong da
- l ¼ cup curd (thick)
- 2 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp mustard
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 2 chilies (finely chopped)
- 1-inch ginger (finely chopped)
- Some curry leaves 5 cashews (chopped)
- ½ carrot (grated)
- Pinch of hing
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp salt ½ tsp
- Eno fruit salt

How to Make
- Firstly, in a large bowl,
- soak 1 cup moong dal in water for 2 hours.
- Drain the water and make a smooth paste without adding water.
- Put the moong dal paste in a bowl and add a cup of curd. Whisk and mix until the mixture is well combined.
- Now heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp chana dal, 2 chilies, 1-inch ginger, some curry leaves, and 5 cashews and fry it. Also, add ½ carrot and fry for a minute.
- Take out the masala tadka in a bowl of moong dal batter.
- Then add a pinch of asafoetida, 2 tbsp coriander, 1 tsp salt, and mix well.
- Just before steaming add ½ tsp Eno (fruit salad) and mix well till it becomes frothy.
- Add a pinch of baking soda if you want. Immediately pour the batter into the idli plate.
- Steam the idlis on medium heat for 15 minutes.
Finally, serve moong dal idli with green chutney and sambar
