“You don’t have to eat fewer carbs, just have to eat the right type of carbs…”
Every one grows eating carbs. Carbohydrates are the sugars, starches, and fiber found in fruits, grain, vegetables, and milk products. When we talk about eating carbs, we have to keep in mind that all carbs are not equal. Different food contains different types of carbohydrates. In our regular diet, 60 percent of the food that we eat is usually in the form of carbohydrates, and they provide us the energy to perform our everyday job and functions…
Carbohydrates are usually split into two categories…
1.Simple carbohydrate(refined carbohydrates)
2.Complex carbohydrate(whole carbohydrates)
Simple carbohydrate
Different types of sugar such as sucrose(table sugar) Fructose(fruit sugar) Lactose (milk sugar)
These carbs are processed, and natural fiber is wiped out. Regular intake of refined carbohydrates is associated with health problems, like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. Simple carbs are found in foods like pizza, pasta, white flour, sugar, white bread, cakes, biscuits, aerated drinks, pastries, sugary canned food, etc…
Complex carbohydrates
Unprocessed and contain the fiber found naturally in the food. They are often rich in vitamins and minerals with significant beauty benefits. These carbs are healthy and can be consumed daily in your diet…complex carbs are found in vegetables, brown bread, whole wheat, rice, oatmeal, whole grain, peas, beans, potato, legumes quinoa, buckwheat, sprouted grains.
Carbohydrates are the body’s preferred energy source. All the carbs are converted to sugar for energy. The brain is known to use glucose exclusively for its metabolism and functioning, so the point is not to eliminate carbs from your diet but to choose the right kind in the right quantity for healthy living.
A very low carbs diet will result in hormonal problems in women. Some evidence suggests that a low carb diet can increase the production of cortisol hormone(the stress hormone); it can also cause irregular menstrual cycles in some women.
Now ultimately, the question that arises is that if all the carbs are converted into glucose in the body and provide us energy, then why choose complex over simple?
The answer to this is that the body converts simple carbohydrates into glucose much faster than it converts complex carbohydrates.
If the simple carbs get mixed into our bloodstream, and if the body does not consume them, the sugar will turn into fat. On the other hand, the body takes longer to digest and convert complex carbohydrates into glucose. This allows the body to digest, utilize, and reduce the simple sugar in the bloodstream, which helps to maintain the health of our body. 🙂
So let’s see how to choose the right type of carbs.
Does your bread have the complex carbs that are good for you? It depends upon the grain used to make it.
Look for the bread made with whole grains. Barley, oats, rye, whole wheat are some choices to consider.

Fruits are healthy to eat but contain fructose,
which is a simple carb, right? But still, they are a healthy choice because fruits have fiber in it, which slows down the breakdown of sugar, and are a good source of vitamins and minerals.
