Dates(khajoor) Sweet magical Fruit

Dates are the divine winter fruits that are considered a superfood and are consumed by many, all over the world. It’s a wholesome food that can be a part of most of our diets.
If I am being honest, I really don’t have much knowledge about these holy texts but I read once somewhere in an article that dates are mentioned 50 times in the Bible and 20 times in the Quran.
It is a symbol of wealth and abundance and has a special place in Islamic history and cultures. It is considered as divine fruit. In Islamic culture Dates and yogurt or Milk is traditionally the first food consumed after sunset during Ramadan.
Let’s see how adding Dates to our diet is adding a powerhouse of nutrition and health benefits.
Dates are infinitely superior to cane sugar
It provides natural sugar in the form of glucose and fructose, this sugar is ready for immediate absorption and is, therefore, superior to cane sugar. Dates are very sweet in taste. Despite their high sugar content the amount of fiber in the date gives them a low glycemic load. It is usually taken with milk which makes it highly nutritious.
It’s a wholesome food
They are a rich source of proteins, minerals, fiber, vitamin b1, b2, b3and b5 along with vitamin A and C.Dates are free from cholesterol and contain very low fat.
Keep your blood pressure down
They are an excellent food for people who are having high blood pressure because they are rich in potassium and less in sodium.
Improves hemoglobin
It has high iron content and vitamin c which helps the body to absorb iron and very useful in treating anemia. According to research dates can be used instead of iron tablets. 7 dates in a day can elevate the hemoglobin level.
Make your digestion better
It helps people suffering from constipation. They are high in fiber. Soak 4-5 dates overnight and eat them in the morning for better digestion. 🙂
Help in curing abdominal cancer
They are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin B, fiber, and antioxidants. The best part is it does not have any side effects on the body as it is completely natural.
How can you eat it?
Full of potassium, iron, B vitamins, and fiber, this sweet fruit is being churned into paste and syrup, and even being dried and turned into sugar. They can also be turned into a sugar substitute in the form of a date puree that can be used instead of white or brown sugar.
Be Careful With Calories
Dates may be rich in nutrients, they’re a concentrated source of calories. Four pieces of dates have almost 270 calories.
For perspective, a whole cup of grapes has about 60 calories, while one dried date has about 65 calories. Dates may be healthy, but eating more calories than you burn, no matter where they come from leads to weight gain.
So enjoy the dates in moderation, eat well, and stay healthy!!!!
